Bess Jean Barnes

Bess Jean Barnes, 79, of Stephenville, passed away Sunday April 20, 2008 in Stephenville. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday in the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Cordell Reiner and Pastor Ed Dittfurth officiating. Interment will follow at the West End Cemetery in Stephenville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Stephenville Funeral Home. Bess was born April 1, 1929 in Stephenville to the late Alvin and Tennie Mitchell Spencer. She married Travis H. Barnes on December 23, 1945 in Stephenville and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2006. Bess has resided in Stephenville since 1986 after previously living in California. She was a member of the Stephenville Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her son, Danny Barnes, Sr. of Stephenville; grandchildren, Danny Barnes, Jr. and his wife Brandy of Stephenville, T.J. Barnes of Stephenville, Amy Barnes of Stephenville, Rachael Woodard of Oklahoma, Christy Seagle, and Erika Barnes of California; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons, Ronald Travis Barnes and Kerry Randall Barnes.
