Ben Arthur Tidwell June 12, 1933-August 21, 2018 Ben Arthur Tidwell, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in Stephenville Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 24th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Holleman officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Ben Arthur Tidwell was born June 12, 1933 to Hoyt and Edna Tidwell in Stephenville Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Erath County. He was a graduate of Stephenville High School and University of North Texas. On August 30, 1958, he married Patsy Ruth Herring at her parents' home in Morgan Mill. He retired from a career of teaching and school administration in 1985. He taught in Bluff Dale, Morgan Mill, Granbury, Dublin, and the Stephenville school systems. Ben loved his family and friends and always led by example. He was a constant source of guidance and support. He enjoyed living on his farm and took a lot of pride in taking care of his land and his livestock. He was an avid reader and storyteller and always liked learning new things. He was a Baptist and was a member of the Double N Cowboy Church in Dublin. Ben is survived by his daughter, Donna Willis and her fiancé Rick Bird of Stephenville; son, Lynn Tidwell and his wife Carolyn of Dublin; grandsons, Kody Willis of San Francisco, California and Jake Tidwell of Turnersville; granddaughter, Lauren Schmidt and husband Kade of Reydon, Oklahoma; great granddaughters, Emmy Schmidt and Cooper Tidwell. He is also survived by a sister, Jean Youngblood of Stephenville and brother, Charles Tidwell of Granbury. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. The family is thankful for the thoughts and prayers that have been offered up in the last few weeks. A huge thanks to the caregivers, neighbors and friends.
