Barbara Ellen Thurman

Barbara E. Thurman, 69, of Stephenville passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 in Stephenville. Services will be held Friday, February 1, 2013, 11:00 AM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with Curt Norman officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home. Barbara was born on July 9, 1943 in Breckenridge, Texas to the late Elbert Mouzon McKinney and Ellen Mae Staig. She married Conley Ross Thurman Sr. on June 24, 1965 and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1999. Barbara was a graduate of Tarleton State University and retired from Tarleton State University where she worked as Administrative Assistant to the Academic Support Department. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and served as the church organist for 50 years. Barbara is survived by 2 sons, Conley Ross Thurman and wife Genie of Stephenville, Milton Thurman of Nashville, Tennessee; 3 granddaughters, Savannah, Caitlyn and Natalie; brother, Zon McKinney and wife Judy of Austin and their children, Howard and Jana; aunt, Mertie Chilton of Canada; sister in-law, Charlene Thurman of Stephenville. Barbara was also preceded in death by a son Chad Thurman on September 26, 2000.
