Barbara (Lewis) Mckeage

Barbara McKeage, 88, of Stephenville, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023.

Graveside services for Barbara will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 30th at the Hico Cemetery in Hico

Barbara Jean McKeage (Lewis) was born February 8, 1935 in Mayfield KY to Lee Ward and Auverne Lewis.  The family moved to Louisville KY during WWII and eventually to St Louis MO.  There Barbara met and married Robert D McKeage on July 9, 1955.  One daughter, Debra Jean was born on November 7, 1959 and died March 31, 1963.

Barbara and Bob raised hogs in Missouri until 1995 when they moved to Stephenville, TX.  Barbara was an RN in the ICU in Troy, MO until her move to TX and then she worked for Stephenville Hospital in the ICU until she retired in 2007.  Barbara was a devoted Christian and loved her Lord and was a member of Washington Street Baptist Church.  Barbara loved her flowers, especially her rose bushes.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.  The Montgomery Family of Stephenville are her special extended family, who she loved as if they were blood related.  She is preceded in death by her husband Bob, her sisters, Marilyn and Sandra, both of Missouri, and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Washington Street Baptist Church.
