Annie Marie Pritchett

November 8, 1917 — January 9, 2011

Annie Marie Pritchett, Loving Wife and mother, passed from this life January 9th, 2011 at the age of ninety-three years, two months, one day in Glen Rose, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. Annie was born November 8, 1917 in Lancaster, Texas; the fifth child of John Wesley Broyles and Lillie Mae Stephenson Broyles. In 1936, she married Finley Earl Pritchett, and together they raised two sons: Robert Finley, and Stephen Douglas. Although her heart had been set on becoming a nurse, a "chance encounter" with a handsome young man on a Dallas streetcar forever redirected her heart's desire. As a young bride, Annie excelled as a homemaker, wife, and mother. She was creative and resourceful, ensuring that her little family always had what they needed and usually what they wanted. As her boys grew, she found time to pursue another passion: books and reading. She served as librarian in The Hurst Public Library for several years where she made countless friends. A voracious reader, Annie read constantly, even up to within a month of her passing. Her love for books was closely matched by her love of music; she adored classical music as well as music of the 30s, 40s, and even the 50s. The advent of the compact disc was a gift from heaven for Annie; she spent countless hours listening to her "boom box," or her little "earphone" CD player. Annie enjoyed travel; accompanying her husband on business trips and making several trips to Europe. Likewise, she delighted in countless family vacations. Annie Marie was a steadfast woman of faith. Raised by Godly parents, she and her husband were immersed in the activities of their church, and teachers of the timeless truths of the church to their sons. Annie loved and treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who, in turn, absolutely adored their "Grannie." Family and friends certainly grieve the loss of Annie, and yet each acknowledges the how profoundly they were - and are - affected by her life. Annie Marie is survived by her husband, Finley Earl, sons, Robert Finley of Hurst, and Stephen Douglas of Glen Rose, six grandchildren, five grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends
