He owned a café in Dublin, and I worked with him and became known as "Little Chick". After I married during the depression, I made 50 cents a day working in a café. In 1943 I entered the U. S. Army as a cook and later became a teletype technician at the Pentagon. I retired from the life insurance business and through the years have been active in the First Baptist Church. The Lord as blessed us." Alfred loved talking and visiting with people. He was usually smiling and joking. He would walk into a room with strangers and put everyone at ease, and leave them smiling. After retirement he played a jolly Santa Clause on the court house square. He loved his family and his church. He was a good Christian man and will be missed.
