Gaynell Jefferies Obituary

Gaynell Jefferies, 80, passed away on March 4, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on October 3, 1943, in Mineral Wells, Texas, to Ottis and Lela Ida (Miller) Privitt. After graduating high school, Gaynell went on to continue her education in college. She married the love of her life, Dale Jefferies, on February 20, 1965, in Lipan, Texas. They had a happy life together until his passing on September 2, 2019.

Gaynell was full of life and a hard worker. She served as Secretary of Harvey Baptist Church for over 20 years. Her life revolved around her faith in God.  If Gaynell was not at home you can almost be sure you would find her at the church.  She was a dedicated worker in all areas of the Children’s and Women’ ministry at Harvey. She spent many years cooking up meals for the College Student ministry, making those students a home cooked meal each week. In addition,  she worked very hard in her home to make sure her family was always taken care of.  She had been a member of Harvey Baptist Church since she moved to Stephenville in 1976.

Gaynell  traveled with Dale to his car shows and drag races.  They were very proud of their Mustangs.  They had their “gang” of car show friends who would always plan outings with a food destination in mind.  You would see The Jefferies, The Hooks, The Blues and The Johnsons laughing and talking in a restaurant, more than likely seated in a back room, as they were known for their rowdiness.  Gaynell fulfilled a life-long dream in 2010 when she traveled to Israel to see the land where Jesus walked.  She even managed to ride a camel while there.  Gaynell was also known for shopping and enjoyed many trips with her daughters to New York City.  Those trips were always called the “shopping eating extravaganzas.”

Gaynell is survived by her two loving daughters, Suzanne Jefferies and Lori Jefferies, both of Stephenville. A sister, Carolyn Moore, of Granbury.  Nieces, DeAnna Berry and Everett of Granbury and Kristi Kalyn and Kirk Wied of Weatherford.  Nephew Austin Privitt and Sharra of Tolar.  Many cousins and so many friends that are like family.  She was blessed with good people in her life.  She loved her Prayer Warrior Ladies Group at Harvey.

Gaynell is preceded in death by her husband, Dale, and both of her parents and a brother, Gerald Privitt.

A funeral service for Gaynell will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 10 A.M. A visitation will be an hour prior to the service, at Harvey Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to Harvey Baptist Church, or your favorite charity.
